The Hydropower station is based in Siaya, Western Kenya. River Yala is the source river and the plant will operate on run-of-the-river technology. With an installed capacity of 3.34MW, the projected annual energy yield is estimated at over 20 million kWh. This power shall be evacuated to the national grid.

Under a design, build, finance, and maintain (DBFM) structure, a joint venture between the project’s developers and investors shall be formed. This arrangement will provide a basis for equity partners to take up shares in the special purpose vehicle (SPV) and secure proportionate board representation. A Shareholders Agreement shall be executed by the parties to formalize the arrangement and introduce governance structures. A competent management team shall be recruited by the SPV’s board.
